\nIn response to a burst of creative energy, Joni Mitchell has had a\nvery busy year. It started with her being co-creator and artistic\ndirector for a ballet based on her music, followed by a politically\ncharged visual art exhibition due to commence in New York this\nmonth. Amongst all of this she found time and inspiration for an\nalbum of beautiful melodies, with occasionally dark lyrics that\nexpress her theological and social awareness of a need to protect\nthis beloved planet. Fans will be pleased to hear a new treatment\nof her 70s anthem Big Yellow Taxi and an exquisite\nadaptation of the Rudyard Kipling Poem If , believed to be a\nlifetime favourite of hers. At times musically sparse, her familiar\nimprovisational jazz styling is always dusted with her brooding\nvoice.
