Hand Built By Robots
Faulkner Newton
Hand Built By Robots is the debut album by guitarist/singer/songwriter Newton Faulkner. Taking his cue sonically from acts such as Jack Johnson and James Morrison, the album is a collection of slow-burning goodtime classics-in-the-making. Includes the single ‘Dream Catch Me’.

Well, it had to happen. Each year we have a hot new talent with a sound that appeals to the masses, millions of records are sold and then The Next Big Thing comes along. Headlines in the music press – ‘JUST LIKE LILY ALLEN BUT QUIRKIER!!!’ ‘He’s even BETTER then Jose Gonzalez! WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!’ Well, Newton Faulkner, a young, dreadlocked alt/folk/roots/rocker may be fresh in his home country of England (this debut album spent two weeks at #1 on the UK charts), but here, the inescapable comparison to Australia’s John Butler Trio will be made. Faulkner did, in fact, support the JBT on their recent English tour. All the right elements are there if you’re into the JBT sound; the production is not too slick and radio-friendly, plus a nice cover of Massive Attack’s Teardrop, but the deja vu is a little overpowering
