Small Craft On A Milk Sea
Eno Brian
Ambient pioneer, hit producer, multi-media artist, technological innovator, world-beat proponent and self-described non-musician, BRIAN ENO, & “Small Craft on a Milk Sea” is a result of the collaboration between LEO ABRAHAMS and JON HOPKINS. According to Eno, the album was born out of a passion for film soundtracks he held in the early 1970s. He was drawn in by their “sensuality and unfinished-ness”, which, in the absence of the film, invited the listener to complete it in their mind. After listening to NINO ROTA"s FELLINI soundtracks before watching the films, Eno was struck with an idea: “that a music which left itself in some way unresolved engaged the listener in a particularly creative way”. “Small Craft on a Milk Sea” opens up new sonic territories, utilising the freedom & spontaneity of new recording technologies. It constitutes Eno"s first solo album in five years, not to mention his first output since curating Sydney’s Luminous Festival in 2009. Eno started his career as a founding member of ROXY MUSIC, before leaving to pursue a solo career. His 1st album, ‘Here Come The Warm Jets’, was followed by a string of critically acclaimed records including the pioneering ambient work, ‘Music For Airports’. Before “Small Craft on a Milk Sea”, Eno"s most recent foray was a second collab. w" DAVID BYRNE, “Everything That Happens Will Happen Today”. As a producer, credits include work with DAVID BOWIE"s “Outside”, COLDPLAY"s “Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends” as well as U2"s “The Joshua Tree”, “Unforgettable Fire”, “Zooropa” and “Achtung Baby”. Embracing his love for soundtracks, in 2009 Eno scored PETER JACKSON"s “The Lovely Bones”.
