The fourth recording from the Norwegian early music vocal group, who have a rabid following among quite a few Readings customers. For this, their first of Norwegian folk songs, they collaborate with percussionist Birger Mistereggen, whose use of jaws harp in particular is spectacular. Its intensely melodic program – of music the singers have known since childhood – involves heavy improvisation and bold, powerful musical brush-strokes.
