YABBA Winners 2012

The Young Australian’s Best Book Awards (YABBA) for 2012 have been announced, with all the winning books selected by children.

Founded in 1985 by a group of Victorians keen to see children engage in reading Australian books, YABBA has the same goal after more than 25 years.

The winning books this year included the first in the acclaimed Phoenix Files series by Chris Morphew, Arrival, which was the winner for Fiction Years 7 - 9.

13 Storey Treehouse by Andy Griffiths & Terry Denton was awarded the Fiction Older Readers prize, while Jacqueline Harvey’s Alice Miranda at School took home the prize for Fiction Younger Readers.

For Picture Storybooks, the award went to an adorable bulldog with a big heart in Fearless in Love by Colin Thompson & Sarah Davis.
