Harlan Coben

I just finished the new Detective Kierce thriller by Harlan Coben, called Nobody's Fool. I have been in a bit of a reading slump of late and needed something that really held my attention from the very start. This was perfect, I finished it in two days and have already moved onto another crime novel, so the Coben cure clearly worked it's magic.

Fast-paced, with all the twists and turns you would expect from an author who really knows how to entertain his readers, you don't need to have read the previous book in the series (I hadn't), but you will be sure to read the next one!

Kelly Bishop

Over the weekend I listened to Kelly Bishop’s memoir The Third Gilmore Girl via Libro.fm. I was excited to read this one as I knew nothing about Bishop except for her roles on Gilmore Girls and Dirty Dancing

Bishop started her career out as a ballet dancer before moving to Broadway and then onto acting. Her story is fascinating and listening to her narrate it was captivating! I was particularly happy when I got to the chapter about Gilmore Girls and discovered Bishop and I agree on our favourite lines from Emily Gilmore.

This was such a quick, engaging read about a wonderful woman and her sometimes sad, sometimes hilarious life. I highly recommend!

Rohan Howitt

I'm in the thick of Rohan Howitt's nimble entry into the Australian Studies shelves, which charts the history of Australian imperialism in Antarctica. Howitt's academic prowess lends a methodical and even-keeled approach to a continent-sized topic, taking us across two centuries of scientific, environmental and commercial interest in the great white south. With the looming threat of accelerating climate change and the upcoming International Polar Year in 2032, The Southern Frontier is a timely (and surely timeless) read.
