Congratulations to the 10 authors shortlisted for this year’s International Dublin Literary Award.
Sponsored by Dublin City Council and managed by Dublin City Libraries, the International Dublin Literary Award aims to promote excellence in world literature and is presented annually for a novel written in English or translated into English.

- Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney (Ireland)
- Idaho by Emily Ruskovich
- Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders
- A Boy in Winter by Rachel Seiffert
- Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie
The titles on this year’s shortlist were nominated by public libraries in Barbados, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK and the USA.
Mairead Owens, Dublin City Librarian, said the shortlist features ‘memorable characters [who] tell stories of identity and displacement, violence and war, family, relationships and loss, set in both familiar and unfamiliar countries and cultures’.
The International Dublin Literary Award is worth €100,000 to the winner. If the book has been translated the author receives €75,000 and the translator received €25,000. This year’s winner will be revealed on 12 June.
