PlayFest is Melbourne’s first inner city music and arts festival for kids. It is taking place this Friday 21 and Saturday 22 November.

PlayFest is designed for families. It has an exciting line-up of musical acts including Sam Moran, Bananas in Pyjamas, Yo Gabba Gabba, Zucchini Clan, The Mighty buZZniks and lots more! You can sprawl on the grass and soak up the festival atmosphere, or wander about and enjoy the various stages, music genres, zones and activities. Friday’s program is specifically designed for pre-schoolers and Saturday’s program has fun for the whole family. There will be baby change and breastfeeding areas, secure undercover buggy parking, healthy food options in child-size portions, water refill stations (BYO bottles), sun and weather shade and free entry to under 1s.

As well as music, Readings will be selling a wide range of books, and hosting author readings from Andy Griffiths, Sally Rippin, Corinne Fenton, Gabrielle Wang and Marc Martin (who will do both a reading from his book Max and run a ‘how to make a seagull’ workshop). Valanga Khoza will team up with Sally Rippin to do a musical performance of their collaboration, Gezani and the Tricky Baboon. There will also be special storytimes hosted by well-known comedians Colin Lane, Frank Woodley, Cal Wilson and Claire Hooper.
