Author Tim Winton, footballer Chris Judd and musician/environmentalist Peter Garrett all paid Readings a visit last week in celebration of their new memoirs – all of which have made it on our bestsellers list. Winton explores how his relationship with landscape has impacted his writing in Island Home, Judd shares an intimate insight into his world as a elite sports star in Inside, and Garrett describes his fascinating and provocative life in Big Blue Sky.

Another notable recent release that made it onto our bestsellers list is Gregory David Roberts’s The Mountain Shadow, the sequel to his worldwide bestseller, Shantaram.

Last week also saw Marlon James named the winner of the 2015 Man Booker Prize for his daring novel, A Brief History of Seven Killings, which was inspired by an attempted assassination of Bob Marley in the 1970s. James is the first Jamaican author to win this Prize, as well as the first openly gay author since Alan Hollinghurst in 2004 and the first black author since Ben Okri in 1991.
