Our bestselling children’s book of last week is Karen Foxlee’s evocative fantasy adventure for readers 9 and up. We named A Most Magical Girl the winner of our Readings Children’s Book Prize earlier this month, and we can’t recommend highly enough. Malvern Children’s Book Buyer Athina Clarke writes: ‘Nostalgic and refreshingly original, this absolute joy of a book is a charming reinvention of our favourite fantasy tropes.’ You can read more here.

Over the past few months we’ve seen an explosion of feminist children’s books. Featured on our bestsellers list is the gorgeous anthology Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls, and three titles from the Little People, Big Dreams picture books series which presents the stories of well-known women from girlhood up.

Meanwhile, teen readers are still gravitating towards Jay Asher’s provocative and powerful YA novel, 13 Reasons Why, which has recently been adapted into a TV series that has everyone talking. Also included on the list are new books in two popular series by Aaron Blabey (Intergalactic Gas) and Rick Riordan (The Dark Prophecy).
