Last week we revealed Karen Foxlee’s A Most Magical Girl as this year’s winner of the Readings Children’s Book Prize! And we’re thrilled to see it’s our bestselling children’s book of last week. Chair of Judges and Malvern Children’s Book Buyer Athina Clarke comments: ‘Perfect for readers aged 9–12, this imaginative adventure will also reward families who read and enjoy it together.’ You can read the full judges’ report here.

Don’t forget that you can pick up the entire shortlist in a specially priced bundle for $79.95 (). Each one of these books comes highly recommend by our amazing team of children’s specialists.

Our bestselling YA book of last week is the gorgeous #LoveOzYA anthology, Begin, End, Begin, which we launched to a full house at Readings Kids last week. The book features stories from some of Australia’s brightest YA authors – Amie Kaufman, Melissa Keil, Will Kostakis, Ellie Marney, Jaclyn Moriarty, Michael Pryor, Alice Pung, Gabrielle Tozer, Lili Wilkinson and Danielle Binks – and is a fabulous realisation of the talent that thrives on our own shores.

Two international YA books also hit our shelves last week, to the delight of our staff – A Court of Wings and Ruin is the third book in Sarah J. Maas’s bestselling fantasy series, and Release is the brand-new offering from YA superstar, Patrick Ness. Readings Kids shop manager Angela Crocombe calls it ‘a stunning coming-of-age novel’.
