  8. A Most Magical Girl by Karen Foxlee
  9. The Bone Sparrow by Zana Fraillon
  10. Quests for Glory (The School for Good and Evil Book 4) by Soman Chainani

The wonderfully irreverent Aaron Blabey had two bestselling books last week, both featuring characters that are adored by children: Pig the Star is another picture book about the world’s greediest pug, and The Bad Guys Episode 6: Alien vs Bad Guys continues the (sometimes misguided) attempts of Mr Wolf, Mr Piranha, Mr Snake and Mr Shark to change their reputation as ‘baddies’.

We’re so pleased to see that readers are still snapping up copies of the two winners of the Readings Prizes! Karen Foxlee’s beguiling fantasy adventure, A Most Magical Girl, won our Readings Children’s Book Prize this year with author Elizabeth Honey describing it as ‘a great swirling sensual story’. Zana Fraillon’s timely and gutsy young adult novel, The Bone Sparrow, won our Readings Young Adult Book Prize with author Lili Wilkinson describing it as ’one of those books that never really leaves you’.

Last week also saw the release of a new book in Soman Chainani’s middle grade fantasy series, The School of Good and Evil – a firm favourite here at Readings. Quests for Glory is the first book is a new trilogy set within the same world.
