Our bestselling children’s book of last week is R.J. Palacio’s beloved middle grade novel, Wonder, which has recently been adapted for the screen. Palacio’s companion novel, Auggie & Me, is also listed here, and contains three stories from different characters who all appear in the original book.

Two of our favourite young adult novels from 2017 are also listed here. La Belle Sauvage is a thrilling fantasy adventure from Philip Pullman that’s set in the same world as his award-winning His Dark Materials trilogy. The Hate U Give is the powerful and authentic story of 16-year-old Starr who is the only witness to the fatal shooting of her unarmed best friend, Khalil, by a police officer.

You can read why we think that The Hate U Give was one of the most important books of the past year here.
