Our kids and YA bestsellers this week include a pleasingly broad range of books for all ages. In the lead-up to 26 January, youngsters are reading journalist Amy McQuire’s stunning debut picture book, Day Break about a family returning to Country, as well as Bruce Pascoe’s ground-breaking work of history and Sally Morgan’s lyrical story of a girl taken from her family.

It’s fantastic to see The Grandest Bookshop in the World as our top seller; this magical debut set in the historic Cole’s Book Arcade has been enchanting young readers all throughout the festive season and into summer. Beyond that, animal lovers are well catered for, with a gorgeous illustrated encyclopedia and a picture book for wombat admirers, younger readers can get a laugh again from the Heffleys, tweens can turn to an imaginative story of the afterlife, and teens can dive into a twisted family mystery.
