Our list of last week’s bestselling children’s and young adult books features some brilliant books from Australian authors.

Junior and middle fiction readers will delight in a Halloween-inspired Weirdo adventure_ as well as first books in two new series from the award-winning Nicki Greenberg, and newcomers Rebecca McRitchie and Sonia Kretschmar: The Cursed First Term of Zelda Stitch and Whimsy & Woe.

This month sees Morris Gleitzman continue the story of Felix with Maybe. You can find the full list of Felix and Zelda books here. And Aaron Blabey has gifted us a new picture book featuring everyone’s favourite (and rudest!) pug: Pig the Star.

Young adult readers are snapping up copies of Take Three Girls. This is a collaboration between authors Cath Crowley, Simmone Howell, and Fiona Wood, and our reviewer says: ‘Readers who love books that feature a cast of characters and focus on female friendship will find much to love here.’ Read the full review here.

Finally, we’re so pleased to see our inaugural Readings Young Adult Book winner, The Bone Sparrow by Zana Fraillon, appear on this list. Read more about why we love this novel here.
