Meet four talented international authors in February

We’re delighted to have some very special international guests visiting us this month.

Meet Virginia Reeves…

Virginia Reeves is a graduate of the Michener Center for Writers at the University of Texas at Austin. Work Like Any Other is her first novel.

This debut has been stacking up praise from all over the place. Alexander McCall Smith’s career has been a varied one: for many years he was a professor of Medical Law and worked in universities in the United Kingdom and abroad. Then, after the publication of his highly successful No 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series, he devoted his time to the writing of fiction.

His most recent book, Chance Developments, brings together love stories from across the globe inspired by chanced-upon old photographs.

Meet Simon Sebag Montefiore…

Simon Sebag Montefiore is a bestselling, prizewinning historian and novelist whose books have been published in over forty languages. His latest book The Romanovs 1613-1918.

The Romanovs 1613-1918 is the intimate story of twenty tsars and tsarinas, some touched by genius, some by madness, but all inspired by holy autocracy and imperial ambition. Montefiore’s gripping chronicle reveals their secret world of unlimited power and ruthless empire-building, overshadowed by palace conspiracy, family rivalries, sexual decadence and wild extravagance.
