With the release of the film adaptation last week, Markus Zusak’s much-loved The Book Thief has shot to the top of our bestsellers list. According to a staff member who attended a screening on the weekend (as well as a Q&A with the author himself!), the film is excellent.

Last week we also revealed our 100 bestselling books at Readings in 2013 and many of the titles included in our bestsellers list this week featured there: Tim Winton’s Eyrie was our top seller for the entire year, while Christos Tsiolkas’ Barracuda, Eleanor Catton’s The Luminaries, Hannah Kent’s Burial Rites and Graeme Simsion’s The Rosie Project were all in our top ten. You can see the full list here.

Coming back to this week, we’re very intrigued by the continued popularity of John Williams’s 1965 novel Stoner. We keep hearing wonderful things about this work and it’s appearing on many of our ‘to-read’ lists.
