We were lucky to be part of some truly fantastic events last week, and it seems our readers agree with three of our big events reflected in the bestsellers list.

On Monday, Major-General John Cantwells spoke candidly on his battle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) at the Crisis Intervention and Management Australasia (CIMA) Conference, a topic he explores in Exit Wounds: One Australian’s War on Terror. A few days later, Tim Winton stopped in Melbourne for an audience of 1000-plus and to speak on his latest novel, Eyrie.

Then, on Friday, a crowd of art and literary loved joined Michael Leunig for an evening discussing about creativity, innocence and art in his new book, Holy Fool

(We have an equally fantastic events program planned for the rest of November.)

Still holding their own in the list are our two big-name-big-book titles - The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton and The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt - as well as Australians Christos Tsiolkas, Richard Flanagan and Alex Miller.

And sneaking into number ten is the new Bridget Jones novel from Helen Fielding. This title is set after the tragic death of Mark Darcy, a decision which has caused much distress for fans despite many believing, ‘it had to happen’.
