Event Highlights in October

Events Coordinator Sean O’Beirne tells us why our October program of events is unmissable.

Listen.

Don’t think for a minute that most people now just stay at home every night, hunched over their computers, stealing season after season of some TV show. Please. Surely we can do better than that? And anyway, how could it possibly be true, when our upcoming event program is so good?

You’ll be wasting time if you don’t come down to our Hawthorn shop to see and hear David Marr talk about his new Quarterly Essay - The Prince: Faith, Abuse and George Pell. You’ll also be no friend to Australian Literature if you’re anywhere other than at Readings Carlton when Alexis Wright (pictured below) talks about her new novel, The Swan Book.

And as well, together with the Wheeler Centre we’re bringing you Christos Tsiolkas, talking about his new novel, Barracuda, and Tim Winton, talking about his new novel, Eyrie.

And for the kids, Paul Jennings and Andrew Weldon will be in-store at Hawthorn, drawing for the kids and reading from their new and funny Don’t Look Now books. And there’ll be drawing and games at our St Kilda shop with Kim Kane and Sara Acton, the author and illustrator of the beautiful new kids’ book Esther’s Rainbow.

So really. You know.
