Entries Open for the Melbourne Prize for Music 2013

The annual Melbourne Prize runs on a three-year awards cycle, alternating between books, music and urban sculpture and this year sees the focus return once again to music.


The Prize supports Victoria’s vibrant local music sector, providing opportunities for Victorian musicians across all genres, including performers and composers and is divided into three categories.

These include the $60,000 Melbourne Prize for Music, the $30,000 Outstanding Musicians Award and the $13,000 Development Award - as well as a residency with the Faculty of the Victorian College of the Arts and Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, University of Melbourne.

The $4,000 Civic Choice Award 2013 will also be offered and will be awarded to the finalist with the highest number of public votes. This award is sponsored by Readings.


2010 Winners included Drummer/Percussionist David Jones, Conductor Ben Northey and Pianist/Composer Natalie Bartsch.

Recipients will be selected by a judging panel which includes Kate Ceberano, Professor Barry Conyngham, Paul Grabowsky, Huw Humphreys and Chong Lim.
