The State of Being Equal: Overconsumption

Readings Carlton, Woiwurrung Country, 309 Lygon St, Carlton, Victoria, 3053

We are excited to introduce a new event series in 2017. The State of Being Equal is a forum intended to make sure we trump Trump politics by exploring how society can be more equitable and just, rather than divisive and bellicose. Each event in the series will examine a new title that is relevant to global and sexual politics.

Robert Crocker, author of Somebody Else’s Problem: Consumerism, Sustainability and Design will discuss the environmental problem of overconsumption, concentrating on the juggernaut of our escalation of consumption, and the way it’s overlooked by most policies. Crocker will also explore how the world of cheap and easy access, and an expanding array of additional products, increases the environmental problem facing us all.

Crocker will be inconversation with Virginia Lee – Elisabeth Murdoch Chair of Landscape Architecture, School of Design.
