Gregory Day’s fifth novel, A Sand Archive, is an original work that transports the reader from present-day Geelong to 1960s Paris. Seeking stories of Australia’s Great Ocean Road, a young writer becomes entranced by a technical manual from the road’s history: Dune Stabilisation and Other Engineering Difficulties by FB Herschell.
