The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

If you haven’t read Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares then put this review aside temporarily, find a copy of Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares and get yourself into a ridiculously fun read. If you have already read it, then keep reading this review!

Rachel Cohn and David Levithan have teamed up once again to bring us another episode of Dash and Lily. This is another fun-filled novel that tackles the big issue of ‘love’ in young adult fiction and makes you giddy with happiness.

It’s almost Christmas in New York again but things are different this year. Lily’s beloved grandfather has had a minor heart attack and needs around the clock care, her parents are fighting, her brother is moving out to live with his boyfriend and, the icing on the frosty Christmas tree, Lily isn’t sure Dash and she should be together anymore. While all this is going on, Dash is trying his hardest to make Lily feel her usual love for Christmas by doing anything he can to make her smile, but he’s not sure it’s really working. Will Lily and Dash see it through until Christmas as a couple? Oh gosh, we all hope so!

At first, when I originally heard there was a follow-up to Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares, I was slightly worried and disappointed; I didn’t really think the first book needed a sequel, it was so brilliant by itself. And, as I got reading my feelings about it were even stronger – Lily and Dash not sure they should be together anymore? No way! But as I kept reading I fell in love with the pair all over again and what started as an anxious read turned into one of pure joy. The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily is a super fun read for ages 12 and up.
