Do you remember your first bicycle ride? Chances are, you do: for most of us that initial feeling of two-wheeled locomotion is a thrilling moment. This beautiful picture book, created as a fundraiser for Save The Children, reminds us of not only how wonderful it is to feel the wind through your hair as you coast down a hill on your bicycle, but how important bikes can be to get you from here to almost anywhere. For many kids in developing countries, a bike is the difference between being able to attend school or go without an education. Illustrators including Quentin Blake, Tony Ross, Freya Blackwood, Shaun Tan and even Banksy have interpreted the theme, coupled with inspiring quotes about bicycles from young and old. Proceeds from the book will help children in difficult circumstances experience the magic of childhood, like riding a bicycle.
