Why Do I Feel Like This?

Shinsuke Yoshitake

Why Do I Feel Like This? follows a child’s hilarious, wildly inventive train of thought as she walks home in a bad mood. Where do sad or angry feelings come from? What’s the best way to make them go away? And is there any way to stop them from coming back?

This imaginative story will help young readers to think about their emotions and find creative ways to deal with bad days.

Review

Japanese author Shinsuke Yoshitake is one of my favourite picture book creators. From death to getting dressed, he tackles topics for kids in hilarious but extremely helpful ways with cute comic-style illustrations and an absolutely wild imagination. Why Do I Feel Like This? looks at anger and bad moods. Why do they happen and what can help us to feel better? Distraction, naps, hiding, friends and food! It’s all in here.

There are so many funny little illustrations, ideas and details in this book – I think reading this would lift anyone out of a terrible mood. If you feel like Godzilla and could crush a whole city, or have a crabby little Godzilla in your life, spend some time with this book and you’ll soon be smiling for sure. For ages 3+.
