Book Review

Tilly and the Time Machine
by Adrian Edmondson

by Alexa Dretzke, Apr 2017

Adrian Edmondson may have been an anarchic misfit in the TV show The Young Ones, but he certainly makes the cut as a kids’ writer. When Tilly’s dad disappears, she’s pretty certain his recently built time machine has something to do with it. Worried that he’s stuck in the past, the plucky little heroine attempts to find him – and what adventures she has, as she stumbles through history hot on his heels (she hopes)!

Tilly is undaunted when meeting historical figureheads: she even manages to boss Queen Victoria around, when she joins her for a delicious afternoon tea. Kids will relish this funny romp and it is perfectly pitched for ages 8–11.
