Diva and Flea: A Parisian Tale

Mo Willems, Tony DiTerlizzi

Diva, a small yet brave dog, and Flea, a curious streetwise cat, develop an unexpected friendship in this unforgettable tale of discovery from an award-winning author/illustrator pairing. For as long as she could remember, Diva lived at 11 avenue Le Play in Paris, France. For as long as he could remember, Flea also lived in Paris, France - but at no fixed address.

When Flea flaneurs past Diva’s courtyard one day, their lives are for ever changed. Together, Diva and Flea explore and share their very different worlds, as only true friends can do.

Review

Diva is a tiny dog who lives in a Parisian apartment building. It’s her job to guard the gated courtyard out front. She’s very good at it and runs away yelping whenever people approach. Flea is a ‘flâneur’  – a person (or cat) who wanders around just to see what there is to see. Flea’s wanderings lead him to Diva and they take turns in tentatively enjoying each other’s lifestyle.

Diva and Flea: A Parisian Tale is a perfect book for beginner readers, a wonderful, sweet story about two friends being brave and trying new things.
