Tomboy Survival Guide is a memoir told in stories and pictures, in which Ivan recounts the pleasures of growing up a tomboy in Canada’s Yukon, and how they learned to embrace their tomboy past when they later identified as lesbian and finally a trans person.

Divided into four sections - Then, Since, Because, Heart - the book offers hope and reassurance to those who are different. These heartfelt, funny, and moving stories are about the culture of difference - a guide to being true to one’s self.
