This series will already be familiar to a lot of our readers, who will no doubt be eagerly awaiting this new batch. After we were introduced to Rose, Grace, Letty and Poppy earlier this year, the Our Australian Girl series has just continued to get better and better. Each character is the star of her own set of books within the series, which spans across different time periods from Australia’s history. In this fourth collection, Grace is trying to be a good servant to her mistress in 1808 while caring for baby Alice; Letty’s time on a sheep run in 1841 is coming to an end due to drought; Poppy joins a travelling medicine show in 1864; and Rose gets ready to celebrate Federation in 1901. The diverse characters are skilfully brought to life by some of our best children’s authors writing today, helping to make Our Australian Girl the perfect introduction to Australian history for readers eight and up.
