The Boy, the Wolf, the Sheep and the Lettuce

Every good book, so we’re told, has a beginning, a middle and an end. In which case this must be a very good book. It has two beginnings, a multitude of middles and no end of ends. A boy is called upon to deliver a wolf, a sheep and a lettuce to a nearby town. Easy-peasey, you might say. But there are complications, mysteries.
