Will Mackerras was born and raised in Canberra, where he stayed on to study law and then work for Australian Government for five years. In 2006 he decided to get away from both Canberra and the law if he possibly could, and before long found himself working as an apprentice Anglican Minister in north-western NSW. Up there he developed a deep love of 19th century Australian rhyming verse, and began trying to write poems in the same style. He is now studying theology in Melbourne, hoping to upgrade from ‘apprentice’ to ‘master’!
