This Must Be The Place: How Music Can Make Your City

Carlton, Woiwurrung Country, 309 Lygon St, Carlton, Victoria, 3053

We are delighted to invite you to a discussion about music and why it matters in our lives. Joining us from across the seas and in person will be author Dr. Shain Shapiro joined by Helen Marcou - cofounder and owner of Bakehouse Studios, Patrick Donovan (Former CEO of Music Victoria) and Kirsty Rivers - former director of Creative Australia and now with SoundStory.

This must be the place examines music’s relationship to cities. Not the influence cities have on music, but the powerful impact music can have on how cities are developed, built, managed and governed, and how it impacts politics, place and people. There's a chapter in the book about Melbourne, exploring Save Live Australia's Music rallies, The Tote & others.
