Kingdoms of Silence holds poems of quiet healing and measured intensity to ballads which swell with perceived social and ecological injustice and hones in on humanity’s dark shadow as it falls across an increasingly fragile world. Through verse, at once trance-like and concrete Waller conveys both the particular and ineffable.

Toward Another Sun collates a selection of Roderick Waller's poetry across three decades. His work is by turns playful and serious, elegiaic and humourous; his voice, alternately, lightened and weighed with wit and pathos. Faced with a terminal lung condition in his seventh decade, Waller breathes out, with difficulty, against the emptiness. But as long as he breathes he writes, and in the act of writing a world is summoned to life; language crackles, birds soar, and horses’ hooves pummel the ground.
