Join Scottish author Iain Maloney as he talks about the joys and pitfalls of life in a rural Japanese town.

When Maloney and his Japanese wife Minori decide to move to a village in rural Japan, the change was eye-opening. Even after more than a decade living in Japan and learning the language, life in the countryside for Maloney was a culture shock. In his memoir, The Only Gaijin in the Village, Maloney recounts the story of his attempts to fit in, to fulfil his duties as a member of the small community, and the wonder of life in the village.
