Join Steph Vizard, Patrick Lenton, Sharmini Kumar and Dr Kate Cuthbert to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birthday and to acknowledge the impact she has had on our lives. How did she change literary history and why do readers return to her books again and again? 

Steph Vizard is an Australian writer and lawyer. Her debut romantic comedy, The Love Contract, won the 2022 HarperCollins Banjo Prize and has been optioned for a TV series by a major UK production company. 

Patrick Lenton is the author of the book of short stories A Man Made Entirely of Bats, the book of comedic essays Uncle Hercules and Other Lies, and the full-length short story collection Sexy Tales of Paleontology. His debut novel, In Spite of You, is a hilarious rom-com. 

Sharmini Kumar is the founder and artistic director of 24 Carrot Productions and a producer of AustenCon, an annual Jane Austen celebration. She has adapted Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice for the stage, Emma for online performance, and co-wrote and directed the original musical adaptation of Sense and Sensibility.

Dr Kate Cuthbert is the publishing director at Books+Publishing. She is a genre fiction advocate and enthusiast, and co-host on the popular Bridgerton podcast What Would Danbury Do?.
