Join us to hear Drusilla Modjeska in conversation with Andrea Goldsmith about A Woman’s Eye, Her Art, Modjeska's new book about six extraordinary women artists.

A Woman's Eye, Her Art looks back to the lives and art of European modernist women who recast the ways in which women's bodies could be seen – from the self-portraits of Paula Modersohn-Becker, to the Surrealist Claude Cahun who exposed the masquerades of femininity, to the radical nudes of photo-artists Lee Miller and Dora Maar. Alongside them in Paris during the first decades of the twentieth century were many artist-women, their friends and colleagues, including Clara Westhoff-Rilke and Gabriele Münter, Leonora Carrington and Meret Oppenheim. In this book, Drusilla Modjeska examines why these women still matter and connects their past to our present.

This is Modjeska's first book in almost a decade and is the culmination of years of research and writing – her magnum opus. It’s also absolutely beautiful: elegantly written and richly illustrated, and taps into the same cultural moment that made Katy Hessel's The Story of Art Without Men such a hit.

Tickets are $10 per person, which will be redeemable off the cost of the book on the night.
