Pulling Down the Stars is a story about the confusion of love, the longing for reconciliation and the need to pull our dreams back down to earth.

Trapped at home with his eccentric father and his stroke-affected grandfather, Charlie Lansdowne’s life is going nowhere … fast. But when Charlie meets the volatile Maxine – a surfer girl who works at the local abattoir – his life goes supernova, as passions ignite and friendships implode.

James Laidler is a writer, spoken word performer and teacher from country Victoria. James’ work has been broadcast on Melbourne’s RRR and ABC Radio National. His work has appeared in Going Down Swinging, Cordite, Poetica Christi, Poetry Matters and Peril. His first novel, the taste of apple, won the IP Picks Award for Best First Book of 2010.
