Terror and Consent: The Wars for the Twenty-First Century

Philip Bobbitt argues that the wars against terrorhave begun, but it will take some time before that nature and composition ofthese wars is widely understood. The object of these wars is not theconquest of territory, but rather to secure the environment necessary forstates of consent and to make it impossible for others to impose states ofterror.

Henry Kissinger has described Bobbitt as the outstanding politicalphilosopher of our time, and this book as simply indispensible for ourunderstanding, yet as readable as it is profound.

To lead the discussion: Waleed Aly is one of Australia’s leadingcommentators on terrorism and on Islam. He works with the Global TerrorismCentre at Monash University, and has been a member of a number of advisorygroups on Islam in Australia. He is a regular commentator in the media onthese issues.

Free event, no need to book.
