A riveting speaker, a newspaper proprietor and editor, the founder of Australia’s first mass political party – Graham Berry was one of colonial Australia’s most memorable politicians. In his new work, Democratic Adventurer, Professor Sean Scalmer recounts Berry’s fascinating life. Fellow historian Frank Bongiorno will join Scalmer to discuss Berry’s career in light of recent politics, and to reflect on the true meaning of democracy.
