PiO in conversation
Please note: This is an online event.
П. O. was inspired to start writing poetry in 1973 when he heard Johnny Cash reciting (religious) poetry while tuning his guitar, and thought he could do as well or better. Since then, he has written and performed numerous works of poetry, and been editor of the literary journal Unusual Work.
П. O. is best known for his trilogy of epic poems on Melbourne, 24 Hours; Fitzroy: The Biography; and most recently Heide, which centres on on the artists’ colony led by Sunday and John Reed, and portrays the people who made modern art happen in Australia, and those who opposed it. Heide was awarded the 2020 Judith Wright Calanthe Award.
We are excited to have П. O. join us to discuss poetry, both on and off the page. He will be in conversation with Giramondo publisher Ivor Indyk.
