Iola Mathews in conversation with Margaret Simons

Readings Hawthorn, Woiwurrung Country, 687 Glenferrie Rd, Hawthorn, Victoria, 3122

Iola Mathews was one of the founders of the Women’s Electoral Lobby, a journalist at The Age, and later an ACTU advocate for women workers during the Hawke-Keating government.

In her honest and revealing memoir Winning for Women, she reflects on being one of the first generation of women juggling a career and children, and takes the reader inside the day-to-day groundwork required to bring about reforms in areas like affirmative action, equal pay, superannuation, child care, parental leave and work – family issues.

Come along to hear Mathews in conversation about her book with Professor Margaret Simons.
