Gerald Murnane is currently scheduled to attend and speak at this event.
Chris Gregory decided that it was important to record one of the greatest Australian authors, Gerald Murnane, reading his own work. The result is Words in Order – a brilliant record showcasing Murnane’s talents as a vocalist. The centrepiece of the album is a 1,600-word palindrome written by Murnane over the course of six months in 2006.
Join us as Gregory talks with Des Cowley, State Library Victoria’s History of the Book manager, about the importance of recording the present for the future, and why Murnane’s work is essential to our understanding of Australian literature.
Free, but please book here.
Words in Order will be available to purchase on the night on 180g audiophile vinyl, with a gatefold sleeve reproducing the original pages of the palindrome. The album is available in a limited, signed edition of 300 with included voucher for free MP3/FLAC download.
