Book Launch: William Beckwith McInnes

Readings State Library, Woiwurrung Country, State Library Victoria, 285-321 Russell St, Melbourne 3000, Victoria

Join us for the launch of Margot Tasca’s William Beckwith McInnes: An Artist’s Life.

Tasca’s An Artist’s Life is the story of William Beckwith McInnes who was one of Australia’s most highly sought after portrait artists of the 1920s and 1930s. He painted many celebrities, prime ministers and prominent people of the time, and won seven Archibald Prizes. This biography is abundantly illustrated and showcases the talent of one of Australia’s most successful artists.

As a former student, teacher and director of the Melbourne Gallery Art School (which was originally situated in the State Library) it is with great delight that we are able to launch the book in the place where so much of his life was spent.

This event is free to attend but bookings are essential.

Please book here.
