Mary Crooks, Director of Victorian Women’s Trust, will launch Hermina Burns’ poetry books.

Against Separation Creek explores the inner landscape of grief and the difficulties of existing in a world which consists of loss and absence – taking us on an intimate journey through illness, the mysterious finality of death, and having to come to terms with loving a ‘gone thing’.

Bite of a bluebottle reflects on what it means to be a woman – as daughter, mother, wife, and self. Drawing on a lifetime of memories, these poems contemplate the everyday and the extraordinary to reveal the hidden lives of women – both now and in the past – while posing important questions.
