In-stock items will be shipped in 2-5 business days.
You can view an item’s in-stock status on its individual product page. Items that are listed as in-stock (online or in any of our shops) will be shipped immediately and will take between 2-5 business days to arrive. Items that are not in-stock need to be ordered from the supplier and can take 10-15 business days to arrive. Orders placed on holidays or weekends will be processed on the next business day.
Once items are lodged with Australia Post Readings cannot be responsible for lost or delayed packages but will endeavour to track orders where possible. If delays are experienced please check in with your local Australia Post office and if your order hasn’t arrived after 3 weeks please contact us. Readings makes every effort practical to ensure that delivery timeframes provided are accurate. However the delivery times stated for products on this site assume that the stock availability information provided by our suppliers is accurate and that delivery times are not adversely affected by unforseen events.
By placing an order online, you agree not to hold Readings liable for any loss or damage directly or indirectly arising out of or in connection with any delay or failure to deliver within the estimated time frame.
We will gift-wrap your online order for free! Simply check the ‘Is this a gift?’ box in checkout, then check the ‘Gift wrap your order’ box. There is also the option to include a message to the recipient that can be written on a Readings gift tag.
Redeeming gift cards and online gift vouchers
When redeeming Readings gift cards or online gift vouchers, simply enter the barcode on the back of your gift card or the barcode on your online voucher into the ‘Gift card code’ field in the checkout. You will still need to enter your credit card details, but we will only charge you if your order exceeds the amount of money your gift card is worth.
Libraries and Schools
We offer Australian libraries and schools a 20% discount off full price books for online orders. To set up an account, head to our Schools and Libraries page and fill in the enquiry form. One of our staff will then be in touch.
Once your account is set up, you can log in and access your discount on all orders.
Bulk rates (recommended for book clubs and corporate organisations)
Readings offers the following discounts on orders for multiple copies of the one item:
- 5 to 9 copies – 10% discount
- 10 to 19 copies – 15% discount
- 20 plus copies – 20% discount

Bargain Books and remainders
Bargain books (found on our bargains page) are made available at heavily discounted prices and although we strive to supply them in the best quality possible, they may occasionally be received in slightly less than mint condition.
Q: How do I get free shipping when I order online at Readings?
A: All orders being delivered within Australia qualify for free shipping. We will send out your orderde items as they are available.
Q: When will my credit card be charged if I order online?
A: Your credit card will only be charged when items are ready for dispatch. If there are any price changes or an item is unavailable we will contact you before charging your credit card.
Q: Do you accept all credit cards for online orders?
A: We accept all VISA, MasterCard and American Express credit cards. Unfortunately we don’t accept debit cards or Diners Club.
Q: My order is being delivered overseas. Will my order include Australian tax (aka GST)?
A: No. GST is deducted from the total cost of your order upon shipping.
Q: I requested a freight quotation for my international order. What happens next?
A: You will receive a second email shortly after you’ve placed your order with your freight quotation. Please reply to this email to approve the freight amount.
Q: My order is going to a different shipping address. Can I still get a tax invoice?
A: Yes, please email us with your order number and we will arrange a tax invoice to be sent out to you.
Q: I don’t have a credit card. Can I pay another way?
A: Yes! You can order with us by either by post (mail your order along with a money order or cheque to Readings, PO Box 1066, Carlton, 3053) or by phone (03 9347 6633).
Q: Can I use my Readings Gift Card to buy online?
A: Yes. Simply enter the barcode on the back of your gift card into the Notes field on checkout and we’ll charge your order to that gift card. You will still need to enter your credit card details, but we will only charge you if your order exceeds the amount of money your gift card is worth. Gift cards cannot be used to buy ebooks at this time.

Q: I tried to sign up as an online member but was ‘email address has already been taken’. How can I sign in?
A: You have probably sign-up previously. Try recovering your password.
Q: I’ve already signed up as an online member but now I can’t log in?
A: When you signed up as an online member you should have received an email from us with a verification link in it. You need to click this link in order to log into your online account. If you didn’t receive this email, check your SPAM or Junk folders. And if you still have problems please get in touch with us.
