Shipping is free in Australia when you order online at Readings.
Orders of in-stock items only will be shipped in 2-5 business days. All other orders will be shipped once all items are in-stock. If you require any items sooner please email us with your order reference number.
Stock availability on our website updates twice a day and supplier availability can change without notice. Prices are subject to change without notice and may vary between the website and other Readings shops. All in-stock titles are available to order online. Items that are currently not in-stock but are available can be back-ordered.
- Australia: Free anywhere within Australia
- New Zealand: $AUS7.95 for 1 - 3 items, $AUS10 for 4+ items
- Asia Pacific: 1.5 x weight (For example a 1kg package will cost $AUS15)
- Rest of World: 2 x weight (A 400g package will cost $AUS8) with a minimum freight cost of A$7.95.
If an order is shipped to a delivery address outside of Australia then GST will not be charged on the items on that order.

Readings does not accept cash or cheques for the payment of items online. Readings accepts no responsibility for the theft, loss or otherwise non-delivery of mailed cash or cheques.
In-stock items will be shipped in 2-5 business days.
Readings does not stock all items in one location. Please allow 5 business days for an item to arrive if it is transferred from another shop. We have five shops in Metropolitan Melbourne plus other off-site locations. Items that are currently not in-stock but are available can be ordered and in most cases can take an extra 2 to 3 weeks delivery time.
Orders placed on holidays or weekends will be processed on the next business day. Once items are lodged with Australia Post Readings cannot be responsible for lost or delayed packages but will endeavour to track orders where possible. If delays are experienced please check in with your local Australia Post office and if your order hasn’t arrived after 3 weeks please contact us. Readings makes every effort practical to ensure that delivery timeframes provided are accurate. However the delivery times stated for products on this site assume that the stock availability information provided by our suppliers is accurate and that delivery times are not adversely affected by unforseen events.

Redeeming Gift Cards Online
When redeeming Readings gift cards online simply enter the barcode on the back of your gift card into the Notes field on checkout. You will still need to enter your credit card details, but we will only charge you if your order exceeds the amount of money your gift card is worth.
Bulk Rates (Recommended for Book Clubs, Libraries, Corporates)
Readings offers the following discounts on orders for multiple copies of the one item:
- 5 to 9 copies – 10% discount
- 10 to 19 copies – 15% discount
- 20 plus copies – 20% discount
Bargain Books and Remainders
Bargain books and Remainder (mostly found in the New Bargains collection) are made available at a heavily discounted price and although we strive to supply them in the best quality possible they may occasionally be received slightly less than mint condition.
Libraries and Schools
Institutional Customers - such as libraries and schools - order books, CDs and DVDs in bulk from Readings by placing their orders through the Readings website. Readings appreciates the support that Institutional Customers show by ordering from Readings and supporting independent bookselling. We can gift-wrap your order for no additional charge. There is also the option to include a message to the recipient that can be written on a Readings gift tag.
Q: How do I get free shipping when I order online at Readings?
A: All orders being delivered within Australia qualify for free shipping. We will send out your orderde items as they are available.
Q: When will my credit card be charged if I order online?
A: Your credit card will only be charged when items are ready for dispatch. If there are any price changes or an item is unavailable we will contact you before charging your credit card.
Q: Do you accept all credit cards for online orders?
A: We accept all VISA, MasterCard and American Express credit cards. Unfortunately we don’t accept debit cards or Diners Club.
Q: My order is being delivered overseas. Will my order include Australian tax (aka GST)?
A: No. GST is deducted from the total cost of your order upon shipping.
Q: I requested a freight quotation for my international order. What happens next?
A: You will receive a second email shortly after you’ve placed your order with your freight quotation. Please reply to this email to approve the freight amount.
Q: My order is going to a different shipping address. Can I still get a tax invoice?
A: Yes, please email us with your order number and we will arrange a tax invoice to be sent out to you.
Q: I don’t have a credit card. Can I pay another way?
A: Yes! You can order with us by either by post (mail your order along with a money order or cheque to Readings, PO Box 1066, Carlton, 3053) or by phone (03 9347 6633).
Q: Can I use my Readings Gift Card to buy online?
A: Yes. Simply enter the barcode on the back of your gift card into the Notes field on checkout and we’ll charge your order to that gift card. Gift cards cannot be used to buy ebooks at this time.

Q: I tried to sign up as an online member but was ‘email address has already been taken’. How can I sign in?
A: You have probably sign-up previously. Try recovering your password.
Q: I’ve already signed up as an online member but now I can’t log in?
A: When you signed up as an online member you should have received an email from us with a verification link in it. You need to click this link in order to log into your online account. If you didn’t receive this email, check your SPAM or Junk folders. And if you still have problems please get in touch with us.
