Senior Customer Service Officer and Children’s Specialist - Port Melbourne

Part-time position, 5 days (30 hrs) per week.

The position reports to the Store Manager and includes general shop duties such as customer service, sales and general shop maintenance and presentation. The successful applicant will be responsible for the maintenance and purchasing of inventory for the Children’s department and will also organise and promote our Children’s event programme.

Readings is always looking to develop relationships with local community organisations such as city council, schools, libraries and not for profit organisations and so is looking for someone interested in exploring new opportunities.

Applicants should have solid experience in the book industry, preferably via a retail environment, specialist product knowledge in Children’s literature and a genuine commitment to customer service.

Chef/Café Manager - Hawthorn

Readings is seeking an experienced Chef/manager for its café located at the Hawthorn store.

The person we seek will be a hands-on leader with extensive experience in food preparation and a genuine customer focus.

Reporting directly to the store manager, this full time role involves overseeing all aspects of the day to day operation of the café including:

  • Full implementation of hygiene requirements
  • Supervision of all café staff
  • Responsibility for ordering and management of stock
  • Coordination of catering for events and launches held within the Hawthorn store
  • Assisting the store manager with administrative duties including weekly rosters, financial reporting, banking

To succeed in this role, you will be a hospitality industry professional with a proven track record together with strong leadership and customer service skills.

You will have a sound knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety requirements and food handling procedures.

Accounts Payable Officer position

Readings has a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join their Hawthorn-based finance team.

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for the entire AP function. Specific duties include processing of creditor invoices, reconciliations, assistance with cash flow, in addition to responding to all creditor queries.

To be successful in this role you must be able to demonstrate proven experience in the establishment and implementation of AP policies & procedures. You are pro active, have excellent communication skills and the desire to be accountable for and manage the entire AP function.

Your experience in a similar role and your excellent organisational skills will compliment your ability to perform confidently at all levels. Your flexibly, patience and willingness to "go the extra mile" will help you secure this position.

Solid computer skills are necessary. Retail exposure and experience with QuickBooks, BookNet and Excel will be highly regarded.

DVD Coordinator - Carlton

A fantastic opportunity has arisen at Readings for a DVD Coordinator based at the Carlton branch.

Reporting to the Music Manager and the Store Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of the DVD department at the Carlton Store. Specific duties include taking an active role in inventory management, merchandising, shop maintenance and customer service.

You will liaise closely with the DVD Buyers at Readings' stores and coordinate a range of products. You will also relate internally with Readings' Receivers and Accounts staff and externally with distributors and other representatives of the DVD industry.

To be successful in this role you will be proactive, highly organised, open-minded and have good attention to detail. You have film and music industry knowledge, preferably through experience in a retail environment.

Your experience in a similar role and your excellent time management and communications skills will compliment your ability to perform confidently at all levels. Your ability to problem solve, your genuine commitment to customer service and the ability to work well under pressure will help you secure this position.
