Women & Power edited by Julianne Schultz

Silencing and a disregard for the work women do is hardly a new topic. Women, after all, have been writing about this discrimination seemingly for decades. However, the importance of doing so cannot and should not be diminished. Without anger and passion by women, for women and about women, we’re in danger of maintaining a status quo that is still, sadly, one sided.

Step in, Edition 40 of the Griffith REVIEW - Women & Power. With contributions by Mary Delahunty, Mischa Merz and Anne Summers among many others, this issue brings a wide-ranging and international perspective to where we are now. Do we really have it all? Do we have equal coverage? Do we as a nation handle the rise of women in politics, economics, home and schools with conviction? If so, why do we care what Ms Gillard wears?

This excellent collection of essays brings the passion of women to our attention. It asks, what happens now? And in doing so, the Griffith REVIEW once again refuses to take an easy road. Essential reading for each and every one of us.
