Tiger’s Curse: Tiger Saga Book 1

Colleen Houck

Passion. Fate. Loyalty.

Would you risk it all to change your destiny?

The last thing Kelsey Hayes thought she’d be doing this summer was trying to break a 300-year old Indian curse. With a mysterious white tiger named Ren. Halfway around the world.

But that’s exactly what happened.

Face-to-face with dark forces, spellbinding magic, and mystical worlds where nothing is what it seems, Kelsey risks everything to piece together an ancient prophecy that could break the curse forever.

EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK:

I was dying. I knew it. At least the pain was gone. I wanted to tell him that I loved him. Then darkness overtook me

Review

Tiger’s Curse tells the story of Kelsey Hayes, a regular girl from Oregon who, just before entering college, takes a two week job with a circus. In addition to running the concessions stand she must also feed and take care of a mysterious white tiger named Dhiren.

Kelsey pities Dhiren (or Ren as she calls him) who is forced to perform humiliating tricks in the big top, and she begins to visit at him night to read him ‘Romeo and Juliet’. Through a series of events Kelsey soon learns that Ren is, in fact, an Indian prince living under a three hundred-year-old curse which was placed upon him by the evil father of his then fiancée. Under the curse Ren is trapped in the form of a lion and only able to take human form for twenty four minutes a day. Kelsey is the only person who can help him lift the curse and so begins one of the most thrilling news YA series that I have read all year.

In Tiger’s Curse, Colleen Houck has woven a brilliant narrative together with fascinating Indian Mythology and Hinduism to produce an action-packed love story that any reader will find hard to put down. The most appealing aspect to this story is that Kelsey is no weakling. She’s a strong heroine who’s able to take care of herself, but still we get to see her vulnerable side. She’s also very witty which makes this great book a pleasure to read.
