HyperParadise serves up a whole smorgasbord of styles and sounds. From dubby instrumentals to soul-filled electro-funk to glitchy chill-wave, this is genre-hopping at its best, with the duo defying trends to create a sound that’s fresh and unique.

Hermitude told triple j that they wanted to make a really strong instrumental record this time round, so left behind the usual cast of guests vocalists that have flavoured their past releases. Singers and rappers were replaced by memorable melody lines played on synths and samplers. This meant their usual hip hop influences were left in the background a little, allowing the duo to venture further into new musical terrain.

HyperParadise is an impressive album that offers something new on every listen. It’s gained Hermitude a whole new fan base and earned them their first J Award nomination for Australian Album of the Year.
