Rolando owes his international breakthrough to Verdi: he has made opera history in La Traviata, Rigoletto and Don Carlo, as well as being a celebrated interpreter of the breath-taking Requiem. This is Rolando’s own personal tribute to one of history’s most popular composers.

The world loves tenors, and Rolando Villazon is loved by the world. It’s very easy to see why on his recording devoted to the arias of Verdi. Every note is lovingly shaped to reflect the libretto, which is included in the liner notes so you don’t miss a single nuance. There are the extremely popular, like La donna e mobile from Rigoletto and then there are the lesser known, like the very first track from Verdi’s first opera, Oberto. What is apparent in every aria though is that this is a recording that will please any opera fan for Christmas.
